The QSFP+ optical module is specifically designed for 40GBASE Ethernet, supporting a throughput of up to 10km over single-mode fiber (SMF) with a wavelength of 1310nm through duplex LC connectors. This transceiver conforms to the QSFP+ MSA, IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-LR4, and OTU3 C4S1-2D1 standards. It incorporates digital diagnostics functions accessible via the I2C interface, as outlined by the QSFP+ MSA, enabling real-time access to operational parameters. With its user-friendly features, easy installation, and hot-swappable design, this transceiver is well-suited for diverse applications, including data centers, high-performance computing networks, and enterprise core and distribution layer setups.
The 40G QSFP+ LR4 optical module adopts a hot-swappable QSFP+ package with a working wavelength of 1271nm, 1291nm, 1311nm, and 1331nm. It is a four-channel full-duplex transceiver module. Its maximum data rate reaches 44.6Gbps, featuring dual LC optical ports, and can achieve a maximum transmission distance of up to 10km over single-mode fiber (OS2).
At the transmitter end, four 10Gbps serial data streams are sent to the driver chip, which controls the direct modulation of the laser. The optical signals output by the four lasers are combined through an optical multiplexer and an LC connector, loading into a single-mode fiber. At the receiver end, the four 10Gbps optical signal streams pass through an optical demultiplexer into four channels. The optical signal in each channel goes through a PIN-type photodetector and a limiting amplifier for output.
Due to the inability of the 10G Ethernet rate to meet the growing bandwidth demands and the current high cost of 100G optical modules, 40G Ethernet and 40G optical modules serve as a transitional solution widely utilized in current data centers.
